My full name is Theresa warner (used to be Groombridge) and everyone usually calls me Teri.
I am a qualified and insured Instructor and equine trainer.
I teach riders of all ages and abilities, from little tots right upto fellow staff members. These lessons include training for exams, competitions and running pony club sessions.
I am on the british dressage list of trainers
I have also recently qualified in Equine psychology, this has given me a different approach to the work that I do with with my horses and handlers/riders. This has lead to many new and interesting exercises including horse agility.
I have been riding since i was 6 years old, i began riding with the local riding school, i quickly convinced them to allow me to become a helper, i grew up enjoyed helping them with the buyng, selling and breaking of riding school ponies and also got my first taste of teaching.
My first pony was a retired riding school pony called willow, a gorgeous 14'1 grey, veteran mare, I moved willow to a DIY yard and had a lot of fun with her, however she would not load and was not really a competition minded pony so Shows and Events were never an option.
After leaving college with a GNVQ in leisure and tourism i decided to embark on an equine career, this started with a job offer to be a groom with the mounted police, I had to turn this down but it was followed by a job offer from Elly Hierons at Silvermere equestrian centre, and i have never looked back!
I began working for Elly in 1999 as a trainee, since then i have achieved my BHS exams including my grooms certificate and my BHSAI.
Silvermere was a full livery yard and riding school with very high standards and demanding owners, although tricky at times it has moulded me into the horse woman i am today.
The team left silvermere in 2005 and Elly opened Badshot-lea equestrian centre which has also become very successful and continues to train riders and staff to a high standard.
I bought my horse Alexsander from our pony dealer in 2002, he was a very weak 6 year old, We started to event together in september in 2004 and have continued to become stronger every season.
I was awarded a EHOA training bursary in 2008, which enabled some amazing training with trainers such as Pippa Funnell, Rob stevens, J-P Sheffield and Team GB coaches Tracie Robinson and Kenneth Clawson.
I gave birth to my first child, Aaron on the 4th febuary 2011, this has given me a whole new challenge... but us riders love a challenge!!
Since having aaron i continued to event and compete at british dressage.
, I was awarded the shearwater owner/rider trophy presented by susan and jeremy lawton in 2014 and attended the EHOA awards dinner amongst many amazing top riders.
I unfortunately suffered a nasty back injury in 2015 and this lead me to take a part time job in PR and Marketing with Creative Equine, an amazing experience and i learned so many new skills.
But now i have the most exciting challenge of all, setting up a brand new livery and training centre at Merrywood farm in Lyne, Surrey.
